Vitocal 222-A with integral DHW cylinder
The Vitocal 222-A air source heat pump is characterised by its separation into an indoor and an outdoor unit, with water-carrying connection lines. In addition to the control technology and high efficiency circulation pump, an enamelled DHW cylinder with a capacity of 220 litres is also installed in the compact indoor unit.
The newly developed inlet system ensures very good stratification, which allows a high draw-off volume of up to 290 litres (at 40 °C). The DHW demand can therefore be met with no difficulty. The compact air source heat pump is also set up to make optimum use of self-generated power from photovoltaic systems. System owners are therefore ideally equipped for environmentally responsible and futureproof heating with renewable energies.
A crucial advantage for system owners is the barely audible operation of the heat pump. In addition, the Vitocal 222-A monoblock air source heat pump can be used for both conventional heating and cooling in the warmer months of the year. This is made possible by the circuit reversal function.
These new outdoor units in their timeless design are very easy on the eye. These appliances with one or two fans are designed and manufactured in-house. Consequently, they offer very good performance data, an excellent finish and superb product quality.
The acoustic properties of the outdoor units for the Vitocal 222-A comply with advanced acoustic design (AAD) specifications. The result is barely audible. In conjunction with intelligent speed control, the high grade, sound-optimised fan significantly contributes to reducing airborne noise in full and partial load operation. Low frequencies that are generally perceived as a nuisance in conventional heat pumps are largely prevented.
With a sound pressure level of only 35 dB(A) at a distance of three metres (night mode), the outdoor unit (with a fan) of the new Vitocal 222-A compact air source heat pump is one of the quietest appliances of its kind. Installation close to a neighbouring property or in densely built-up areas, such as terraced housing, is therefore no problem. You can also find detailed information about this in the section on air source heat pumps and sound.
All components installed in the Vitocal 222-A with DHW cylinder are optimised to work together. The result is high efficiency, which is reflected in the low running costs. Expressed in figures, the VITOCAL 222-A achieves a COP (coefficient of performance) of up to 5.0 at 7.0 °C outside temperature and 35.0 °C water temperature in accordance with EN 14511. Even at 2.0 °C outside temperature and 35.0 °C water temperature, the COP is still 4.1.
Even with the integral 220 litre DHW cylinder, the indoor unit of the Vitocal 222-A is extremely compact. Its dimensions (depth x width x height) of 681 x 600 x 1874 mm allow straightforward installation in almost any room. If the Vitocal 222-A is extended to include a ventilation unit such as the Vitovent 300-W or Vitovent 300-F, there is a further advantage: the ventilation unit can be operated with the Vitotronic 200 heat pump control unit that is already fitted. The space required for both systems is thus reduced to a minimum. Detailed information about this subject can be found in the section on mechanical ventilation.
The compact indoor unit, complete with hydraulics and control unit, is quiet and can be installed near the living space. The lines running to the outdoor unit are filled with water, so the installer does not require a special certificate of competence (refrigerant certificate). Thanks to the hermetically sealed refrigerant circuit, a refrigerant leak test is not necessary either. The high degree of pre-assembled components and coordinated accessories means the Vitocal 222-A can be installed very quickly.
You can also find detailed information about the refrigerant circuit/refrigerant in the Vitocal 222-A short brochure.
The EHPA Quality Label serves as proof of the COP (coefficient of performance). The German EHPA Quality Label Committee has confirmed that Viessmann's Vitocal 222-A heat pump meets EHPA Quality Label requirements.
